About the Role

We have opportunities available for motivated pharmacists, with or without clinical experience, to join our Pharmacy Service based at Whangarei Hospital.

We are interested to hear from pharmacists who can work full- or part-time hours.

This core pharmacist role will provide a comprehensive, effective and safe pharmaceutical service to patients and staff in Te Tai Tokerau Northland, primarily based at Whangarei Hospital.

You will provide clinical pharmacy services to our inpatients, including medicines reconciliation, medication review and optimisation, discharge facilitation, patient counselling and attending ward rounds and multidisciplinary team working.

What we can offer you

Remuneration for these roles is $82,856 $116,390 ($

  • per hour) for full time equivalent, dependent on experience.

In addition, a voluntary bonding scheme payment can be applied to for new or recent graduate pharmacists who choose to work at Whangarei hospital : /

Additionally, you will receive individualised support for early career pharmacists, pharmacists returning to the profession and pharmacists with no previous hospital experience.

You will be encouraged to develop your clinical skills across disciplines and opportunities for clinical career development.

The nature of these positions will see you conducting rotational ward-based work with opportunities to develop your knowledge across a variety of clinical areas working amongst a supportive multi-disciplinary team.

About the Team / Service / Location

Whangarei Hospital is a medium sized (approximately 260 beds) secondary hospital located in Whangarei (approximately 2 hours north of Auckland), unique in terms of the diverse, high-needs population we serve.

Our service is committed to providing excellent patient-centred care and achieving equitable health outcomes through collaboration, continuous improvement and innovation.

With a talented team of approximately 20 pharmacists, we provide clinical pharmacy services to inpatient areas across Medicine, Surgery, Older Peoples Health & Rehabilitation, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Childrens Health, Mental Health, Infectious Diseases & Antimicrobial Stewardship, Cancer and Blood services and Renal services.

About you

Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a current Annual Practising Certificate from the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand.

If you are applying from outside New Zealand, please tell us the registration route that applies, and what stage of that process you are currently at.Whilst not essential, a Post graduate qualification in a relevant clinical area and / or previous hospital pharmacy experience is highly desirable.

Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Applicants must submit a minimum of a cover letter and an up to date CV with your application.
