About The Role
We have an exciting Communications and Engagement Advisor role available at Hutt City Council!
The role will oversee all communications and engagement requirements for important council projects, supporting the vital work we do and services we deliver for our communities.
You will serve as the primary point of contact, aligning strategies with project objectives and the organisation's overall communications goals.
Your role will involve creating project-related content, monitoring the effectiveness of communications efforts, and providing strategic advice to ensure best practice approaches are included in project planning.
You will also be joining one of the best communications and engagement teams in the region (we might be biased) - a group of passionate, community minded people and a team with a great culture.
About You
You are an experienced communications and engagement professional with a proven track record of working with projects, or in a business partner model.
You will have the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, developing strong relationships and high levels of trust.
You will also have strong political acumen, a good understanding of media risks, community and engagement business strategies and be able to deliver high quality work.
Finally, we're looking for someone who appreciates a strong team culture, who enjoys their job and wants to work in an open and supportive environment.
Key Skills And Attributes
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Engagement, or a related field.
Strong project management and account management skills, along with an understanding of best practice engagement approaches
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Experience in a local government or public sector environment is desirable.
