Kaiako food and soft materials technologyPart time, Permanent, FTTE up to : 0.7Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacherTechnologyWe are seeking a passionate and skilled teacher to join our Technology Centre team (0.7 FTTE), teaching Y7–8 students from our kura and our client schools.

This role focuses on soft materials technology (textiles and fabrics) and food technology.At Featherston School Te Kura o Paetumokai, we believe in providing high-quality, hands-on learning experiences that engage, inspire, and empower our tamariki.Soft materials technology Inspire students through hands-on learning in textiles, where they design, create, and reflect on fabric-based outcomes.

You'll guide them in sewing, textile techniques, and creative design, encouraging innovation and pride in their work.Food technology Engage learners in planning, preparing, and evaluating food-based outcomes.

You'll teach essential cooking skills, food safety, and nutrition, while fostering teamwork, confidence, and independence in the kitchen.Both programmes connect strongly to the technology curriculum, with an emphasis on developing students' technological practice, knowledge, and understanding through the contexts of soft materials and food technology.

You will also ensure that learning experiences are inclusive and responsive, catering for the strengths and needs of our diverse learners.Our school values of Kaitiakitanga (Responsible), Manaakitanga (Respectful), and Aumangea (Resilient) are woven throughout all that we do.
