About the Role – Korero mo te Turanga

We are looking for a driven Adviser to bring their enthusiasm to help deliver our new service offering for businesses operating under the Food Act.

This operationally focused role will work closely with food businesses to make it easier for them to find and understand the rules that they need to follow, helping to keep food safe and suitable for everyone.

Responsibilities

Providing Food Act Businesses with a strong customer centric level of service and support by answering queries via email / phone and triaging more complex queries to the right experts in MPI to answer.

Making information easier for businesses to find, use and understand while tailored for different segments.

Developing relationships with industry stakeholders and key contacts throughout MPI.

Use data to identify trends, issues, patterns and pain points for businesses.

About You – Mou

To be successful in this role you will have :

Excellent communication and listening skills – be able to understand technical issues and translate into simple, easily communicated information.

A strong track record of delivering results, including planning and organising work.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people, including demonstrated success working across business groups in a collaborative manner using effective influencing skills.

Experience understanding the needs of clients and managing their expectation to satisfy their needs.

A tertiary qualification (or 3+ years equivalent experience), and experience navigating food rules and / or working in the food sector would be advantageous.

About the Team – Mo to matou Ropu

The Regulatory Advice Service (RAS) is a key function within MPI that communicates on a day-to-day basis with businesses around New Zealand to support their growth and a thriving New Zealand economy.

We support business by providing advice on the regulations that underpin New Zealand's food imports, domestic operations, and exports.

We do this by providing guidance, webinars, and online tools, and answering direct queries.

The Imported and Domestic Food Regulatory Advice (IDFRA) team within RAS specifically focuses on supporting food importers and domestic businesses operating under the Food Act.

We are a collaborative and interactive team that enjoys working together to provide a customer-centric approach to our work.
