Overview
Based in Dunedin, the School of Physiotherapy at the University of Otago has a long-standing international reputation as a leader in education, research, and clinical practice. We focus on the assessment, treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction, and on the promotion of health for people of all ages.
We aim to preserve, advance, create and promote knowledge, critical thinking, intellectual independence, education, and professional practice to maximise the contribution physiotherapy makes to the health and wellbeing of individuals and society in New Zealand and beyond.
We are committed to working closely with iwi and Māori organisations, and mātauraka Māori has become an integral part of teaching and research across the institution. We especially value our relationship with Ngai Tahu, the mana whenua within their takiwā of Te Waipounamu, and the University’s principal Treaty partner.
