RNZ’s Checkpoint teamis looking for a talented Reporter / Producer to help deliver a vibrant,live experience across radio and digital platforms. This is a dynamic rolewhere you’ll use a range of storytelling techniques—visuals, video, graphics,live streaming, and sharp writing—to break news and engage audiences.

• Collaborating across RNZ teams to develop and delivercompelling editorial content
• UpholdingRNZ’s editorial standards and reputation for quality journalism
• Generatingand pitching story ideas daily
• Writingsharp, concise intros, headlines, and supporting notes
• Editingand processing audio packages and interviews for broadcast
• Conductingwell-researched, balanced interviews
• Creatingengaging online content tailored for rnz.co.nz and social platforms
• Usingdigital tools and social media to expand RNZ’s reach
• Applyingsound knowledge of media law in all content
• Contributingto a positive team culture and supporting other teams as needed
• RepresentingRNZ publicly in line with its standards and values
• A tertiaryqualification in journalism or equivalent experience
• Proven experience asa journalist across visual, written, and audio formats
• Strong knowledge ofnational / international news and current affairs
• Experience in liveproduction and converged storytelling
• Excellent writing andediting skills for online and broadcast
• Confidence on cameraor a willingness to develop this skill
• The ability to workunder pressure and meet tight deadlines
• A collaborativeapproach and strong relationship-building skills
• A broadcast-qualityvoice and commitment to te reo Māori pronunciation
• Initiative,creativity, and adaptability in a fast-evolving media landscape
