About the Role
This role leads the development and implementation of Te Whatu Ora's Business Continuity Management system across all levels of the organisation. You will ensure the system is compliant with relevant legislation, aligned with best practice, and tailored to meet the unique needs of the health environment. A key focus is ensuring the organisation is well-prepared to respond effectively to threats and incidents, maintaining continuity of operations and service delivery. In the event of a catastrophic event, you will lead the organisation's transition to alternate service delivery locations, ensuring resilience and responsiveness when it matters most.
About the Team / Service / Location
This role sits within the Health, Wellbeing, Safety & Organisational Resilience team in the People & Culture team and reports to the Group Manager Emergency Management & Business Continuity. You'll be part of a national network of emergency management professionals, working closely with district leads and regional teams to strengthen our emergency preparedness and response capabilities.
About you
You are an experienced and qualified business continuity leader, ideally holding an MBCI or ISO Lead Implementer / CBCI certification, with over 10 years of sector leadership experience. You bring a proven track record in delivering tactical, operational, and strategic continuity plans, and have led complex, multi-agency responses to threats and incidents. Your leadership style is collaborative and empowering, with strong people management, budgeting, and forecasting capabilities. You're skilled at building capability within teams and fostering high-performing environments aligned with organisational goals.
You demonstrate advanced knowledge of business continuity best practice within large, complex organisations, and have a sound understanding of the Health and Disability system. You are committed to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and applying its principles meaningfully in your work. With exceptional relationship management and influencing skills, you build strong partnerships across diverse groups. You're resilient, self-aware, and driven to deliver, maintaining high standards of integrity and professionalism in all that you do.
