Due to continued growth, we are looking for a

Technical Underwriter

to join our Personal Lines team.

In this role, you'll be a trusted technical expert – supporting our underwriters and helping shape the way we do underwriting at Ando.

Our main offices are in Auckland and Christchurch, however we are open to considering candidates outside of these areas provided you are comfortable working remotely.

What you'll be doing

Acting as a referral point for complex and high-value underwriting risks.

Providing guidance and technical coaching to the Personal Lines underwriting team.

Reviewing and auditing underwriting practices to ensure quality and consistency.

Playing a key role in developing underwriting guidelines, product wordings, and broker / staff training.

Supporting post-loss underwriting and complex claim escalations.

Identifying opportunities to improve processes and deliver better outcomes for our customers and brokers.

What we're looking for

5+ years' experience in Personal Lines underwriting, ideally with exposure to technical or portfolio management roles.

Strong knowledge of insurance law, regulation, and Personal Lines products.

The ability to analyse complex information and communicate it in plain language.

Exceptional relationship-building skills – you enjoy working collaboratively with brokers, colleagues, and stakeholders.

Relevant industry qualifications (ANZIIF or similar) are a bonus.
