Biosecurity Passenger Facilitator – Christchurch

Location : Based at Christchurch International Airport
Starting salary : $60,882 per annum pro rata for part-time hours.
Must be available to start immediately on 24 November 2025 and attend 1 week training full time, Monday to Friday 10 : 00am to 4 : 30pm for your first week.
About the Role - Korero mo te Turanga
We have openings for Biosecurity Passenger Facilitators to join our team on a part time, permanent basis.
Induction and ongoing training will be provided.
The Biosecurity Passenger Facilitator is an important part of the Biosecurity New Zealand team.
They work alongside our biosecurity staff to educate passengers on New Zealand's robust Biosecurity System!
This is a front-line role where you are engaging directly with international travellers and kiwis returning home to ensure a seamless and pleasant experience through the biosecurity-controlled area.
As a Biosecurity Passenger Facilitator, you will also support biosecurity staff with a range of tasks – such as treatment administration and processing, replenishment of bins and stock, other data entry activities as required, assisting staff with inspection and cleaning personal effects.
You will need to be reliable, committed and enjoy being a positive contributor to a team.
Experience in customer service is preferred, as is a can-do attitude and the ability to build rapport quickly with people from all different backgrounds.
What does Biosecurity New Zealand do?
Biosecurity New Zealand is part of the Ministry for Primary Industries and plays a critical role in preventing harmful organisms crossing New Zealand's borders.
We manage border and compliance activities as well as preparing for, and responding to, any biosecurity incursions that may occur.
We support all New Zealanders and visitors to play their part in protecting our country – including our urban, rural, and natural environments.

The airport operates 24 / 7 which also includes public holidays.
The roster is provided at least two weeks in advance.
Physical requirements :
This role involves standing and moving for extended periods of time, often in dynamic and operational environments.
As such, staff must maintain a level of physical fitness that enables them to perform these duties comfortably and safely.
The ability to remain on your feet for long durations, respond quickly when needed, and carry out tasks without undue fatigue or injury is essential.
