Experienced Harvester / Forwarder Operator - One position available.
HB Forestry has been operating since 2004. We specialise in harvesting and log marketing of farm woodlots, as well as complex and high-risk tree removals. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Harvester / Forwarder Operator to join our team. This is a full-time role based in Hawke’s Bay, operating across various work sites.
Minimum of 40 hours and maximum 60 hours per week, Monday to Saturday, depending on weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Timber Harvesting : Participate in timber harvesting operations, including Harvester, Forwarder, Log Loaders and other forestry equipment under supervision.
- Forest Maintenance : Conduct routine forest maintenance tasks such as clearing brush, controlling invasive species, and maintaining trails and access roads.
- Fire Prevention : Collaborate in fire prevention activities, such as creating fire breaks, removing hazardous fuel materials, and conducting controlled burns when necessary. Follow safety protocols to minimize fire risks.
- Equipment Maintenance : Perform routine maintenance and repairs on forestry equipment, tools, and vehicles. Ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
- Collaboration : Work closely with other forestry professionals, including forest managers, technicians, and customers, to implement forest management plans.
- Safety and Compliance : Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines during all forestry operations. Use personal protective equipment and follow established protocols to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment.
Skills and Experience Required :
At least 3 years of relevant experience operating mobile, harvesting or logging plant machineryStrong awareness of health and safety regulations, especially in high-risk environmentsAbility to work independently and as part of a small, skilled teamMechanically minded with good problem-solving skillsPhysically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and terrainFull and clean NZ Driver’s Licence .To Apply :
