You must be able to relate to a wide variety of people from different cultures and work within a multidisciplinary team.

This position involves the provision of population and personal health services to support quota refugees integrate to the health system, health promotion / education, and disease investigation to minimise the effects of communicable disease and disease outbreaks in our communities.About the Team / Service / LocationYou'll be joining a passionate and supportive Public Health Nursing team that is part of the National Public Health Service (NPHS), working collectively to promote health, protect communities, and advance equity across the region.Our team is grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi and we work with heart, in partnership, and with a shared commitment to delivering Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) for all.

We value collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning, and we actively support professional development and wellbeing.Public Health Nurses in our team work closely with : Medical Officers of HealthColleagues within our public health serviceHospital and Specialist ServicesPacific Health Services - NPHS Te IkaroaCommunityOther NPHS services (e.g. immunisation, health protection, health promotion)Community organisations and government agenciesOur service takes a whanau-centred, strengths-based approach, supporting children and young people not only with their health needs, but also addressing the wider determinants of health.About youYou understand the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and are skilled in applying its principles effectively in your role.

You build and maintain positive relationships at all levels and model an agile approach, you learn quickly, adapt fast.

You can utilise advanced nursing knowledge and skills through reflective practice, critical thinking and professional judgement to provide competent care and advice while working to top of scope.Current registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand as Registered Nurse and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate3+ years clinical experience, Authorised Vaccinator or interest in completing trainingHold a minimum of a proficient portfolio in an approved PDRP or equivalent with a commitment to continue through the programmeAbility to work within a team and autonomouslyProven experience and competence using Patient Management SystemsAn eye for detail and commitment for continuous quality improvementExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAwareness of key Public Health issues in New Zealand and / or an interest and enthusiasm for public healthTechnical / clinical public health nurse knowledge in the follow-up of communicable diseaseExperience dealing with stakeholders and patientsWell-developed time management skills to enable deadlines to be managed and metFull, clean New Zealand drivers licenceWith the support of Health NZ, you will proactively take care of your own health and safety, to ensure a safe and supportive work environmentWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
