Join us and become a Heartist.Job DescriptionPullman Auckland is looking for a Maintenance Technician to assist the Engineering team in the day-to-day operation of the maintenance requirements of the hotel.
This diverse role encompasses varying degrees of trade including painting, building maintenance, or general handyman duties.
ResponsibilitiesAssisting the Director of Engineering and Assistant Maintenance Manager in maintaining safe working practices while overseeing the building, plant, equipment, fixtures, and fittings.
This helps protect the assets and ensures a functional, pleasant, and safe environment for all guests, contractors, visitors, and employees.Carry out painting tasks as required, including touch-ups, wall repairs, and full repaints.Liaise with the Director of Engineering and Assistant Maintenance Manager regarding all work in guest rooms and public areas to ensure out-of-order areas are brought back to use as soon as possible.Complete all tasks where possible within a 15-minute time frame of receiving the request.Report back to the Manager on Duty or Front Office the completion or delay of any guest-related task.Suggest improvements to service or procedures and log and inform the Department Manager of any service or system problems.
QualificationsAt least 1 year of experience in maintenance or a similar industry; experience in the hotel or tourism industry is preferred but not required.Trade qualifications are preferred but not essential.Working knowledge of building compliance, risk management, and a passion for environmental sustainability.Hands-on approach required—this is not an administrative role.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think effectively, logically, and resourcefully.Demonstrates responsibility, self-motivation, and proactivity, while consistently bringing a positive attitude to the hotel team.Ability to work a rotating roster.Have rights to Work in New Zealand.
