It is a Mental Health Inpatient Unit located on the grounds of Waitakere Hospital.
The unit as a whole comprises of 8 intensive care beds and 24 open ward beds.
About the RoleWe are seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist who demonstrates excellence in clinical practice, a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to providing culturally responsive clinical care for Tangata whai i te ora and their whanau.This is a pivotal role that requires critical thinking, advanced nursing expertise and evidence-based practice to lead practice within our multidisciplinary team.As part of this, you will provide leadership and oversight to other nurses.
You will champion high standards of care for individuals presenting with complex mental health and physical health needs across all age groups, including adults, rangatahi (youth), and kaumatua (older adults).
The Clinical Nurse Specialist role involves autonomous practice and will support diverse and at times challenging presentations including intoxication in the emergency department and hospital wards.
You will actively lead complex care planning and multi-agency care planning in collaboration with whanau, community agencies and other health professionals.
At a local and national level, you will develop and influence policy.You will be responsible for ongoing education to staff from other specialties to support ongoing improvement in practice, understanding and capability when caring for those with mental health and addiction needs.
A core aspect of the Clinical Nurse Specialist role within this service is the promotion of a positive culture of respect and partnership which is grounded in mannakitanga, whanaungatanga and kotahitanga.
