About the role
As a
Team Leader
, you'll report to a Group Operations Lead and take charge of day-to-day cargo and vessel movements to keep the port running safely and efficiently.
You'll lead and motivate a rotating team of Cargo Handlers across vessel, yard, and landside portfolios, ensuring everything flows smoothly from shipside to gate.
This role is hands-on, people-focused, and central to operations - balancing productivity, safety, and teamwork.
You'll also collaborate closely with logistics partners and service providers, keeping communication clear and operations seamless.
With a 24 / 7 operation, you'll be part of a continuous roster including nights and weekends.
About you
You're a natural leader who thrives in dynamic environments, able to balance operational demands with a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and people.
You bring clear communication, decisive problem-solving, and a knack for getting the best out of your team - even in high-pressure situations.
You'll also bring :
Proven experience leading and motivating teams
Strong people and safety leadership experience in high-risk environments
Success in driving change and continuous improvement
Resource and workforce planning experience in a medium-large organisation
Risk management and incident response skills
Financial and data acumen to inform decisions
Experience working in a unionised environment (highly desirable)
