RoleEnvironment Advisor at the Macraes operation.
This role coordinates and provides functional environmental support, ensuring compliance with statutory acts, regulations, consent conditions, and company environmental standards.
The advisor provides environmental, site, and consent knowledge across the mine site and works on a roster of 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off, 7 : 00am – 4 : 30pm daily.
Responsibilities
Assist the operation to meet all regulatory and OceanaGold requirements, standards, and guidelines.
Liaise with personnel, consultants, auditors, and legal advisors to ensure company environmental performance and targets are achieved.
Provide environmental advice to operational teams and on-site projects.
Ensure site awareness of regulatory and statutory obligations through day-to-day liaison with other site departments.
Establish and maintain relationships with relevant external stakeholders.
Identify, plan and (if appropriate) implement environmental improvements.
Undertake monitoring and reporting of key requirements of the Macraes Operation.
Support the preparation of regulatory approvals as required.
Ensure appropriate management of covenants and other biodiversity activities in line with consent conditions and relevant management plans.
Qualifications
Minimum of a tertiary qualification in Environmental or Earth Sciences, or similar.
Full and current Driver Licence; ability to drive manual vehicles and 4WDs is preferred.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years cumulative postgraduate experience, with a minimum of 3 years work experience in a regulatory monitoring environment.
Mining industry experience.
Skills in biodiversity, water management, and hazardous substances management.
Regulatory processes experience.
Environmental monitoring and reporting experience.
Working knowledge
Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project, PowerPoint, Teams.
Report writing and presentation.
New Zealand's RMA and Wildlife Act.
ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
Mapping software such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
Risk Management.
