We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative Syndicate Leader for Ahuru Mowai, our Y0-3 teaching team, who is committed to a rich, culturally responsive, and inclusive educational experience at TUKNCS.
This role comes with 1 permanent management unit and 1 fixed management,
You will lead the junior school team, ensuring high-quality, consistent teaching and learning practices that align with our school's unique kaupapa and vision : Aroha mai, Aroha atu.
Mana mai, mana atu.
You will be the kaiako of a Y3 class.
Our school culture is anchored by our four pou : Whanaungatanga, Manaakitanga, Rangatiratanga, and Kaitiakitanga, which shape our Graduate Profile and teaching pedagogy.
We operate under a Waka-hourua (Co-governance) model, reflecting our commitment to Tiriti-based practice and drawing equally from te ao Maori and te ao Tauiwi knowledge to strengthen the mana and wellbeing of all.
Key leadership responsibilities
Your role will focus on leading your team in key areas, including :
Anchor all team planning and decisions in Te Tiriti o Waitangi, ensuring mana orite (equal status) for matauranga Maori and aligning practice with the New Zealand Curriculum.
Work collaboratively with all staff, contributing to the school's localised curriculum and sharing resources.
Ensure classroom practice uses relationship-based learning ("Teaching to the North-East") to promote equitable outcomes for all students.
Skilfully integrate effective inquiry models into long-term and weekly planning.
Facilitate the effective implementation of Structured Literacy (LLLL).
Monitor and use assessment data (including HERO data) to identify priority learners, inform planning, and accelerate progress in literacy.
Harnessing the Science of Learning - Whole class explicit instruction.
