About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Flight Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of our UAS flight operations, including managing trials and demonstrations, coordinating with all stakeholders, leading planning and scheduling, and managing regulatory approvals.
This role is critical to ensuring the successful execution of our flight operations, trials and demonstrations. The role is primarily for our UAS products, but the role will play an important position for future trials of our new products in the maritime domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Trials and Demonstrations : Manage the planning, execution, and evaluation of flight trials and demonstrations for defence and civil customers.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure trial alignment with customer requirements.
- Negotiate and coordinate with stakeholders, including military personnel, government officials, and industry partners, to attend and participate in demonstrations.
- Coordinate and manage our involvement in joint exercises with international customers.
Lead flight Planning and Scheduling
Develop and implement efficient flight schedules.Coordinate with various departments to ensure smooth flight operations.Coordinate the drone pilots to ensure optimal outcomes.Ensure adherence to all regulations and safety standards.Operational Efficiency
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement.Implement strategies to optimize flight operations and reduce costs.CAA Approvals
Work closely with the Trials & Certification Engineer to prepare and submit CAA / MAA flight applications.Manage the CAA Part 102 certificate, specifically taking ownership over the operational and SMS sections.Be the point of contact with regulators as and when required for new approvals.Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree or relevant experience (approx 5 years) in aviation, engineering, or a related field.Extensive experience in flight operations management, with a strong focus on military aviation.Strong knowledge of aviation regulations and safety standards, including CAA part 102 and MAA requirements.Deep understanding of UAS technology, flight dynamics, and safety protocols.Proficiency in UAS flight planning and the ability to analyse flight data.Excellent leadership and organizational skills.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.An absolute must-have : A serious get-up-and-go attitude.Location
This position is based in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand . Known for its surf beaches, culture, and a burgeoning tech scene, Mount Maunganui offers an excellent quality of life and a conducive environment for innovation.
Travel is required for this role.
