About the role
We are seeking an experienced Consultant
Psychiatrist (Senior Medical Officer) to join our Mental Health Emergency
Department (MH / ED) team, working across the Wellington and Hutt Hospital
Emergency Departments.
This senior role is an exciting opportunity
to provide expert psychiatric assessment and intervention in a fast-paced
emergency setting.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality,
culturally safe, person and whanau-centred care to individuals presenting with
acute mental health needs or psychological distress.
You will work closely with ED clinicians,
MHAIDS teams, and community partners to enable rapid, effective care planning,
reduce avoidable admissions, and support safe and timely transitions.
About the Team / Service / Location
Our MH / ED team is a dynamic,
multidisciplinary service operating across Wellington and Hutt Hospitals.
We
are committed to delivering rapid, person-centred care for those in crisis,
while supporting integration between emergency and mental health services.
You will join a growing team that includes a nurse
practitioner (intern) and specialty clinical nurses.
Together, we are focused
on improving access, equity, and outcomes for tangata whaiora and their whanau.
