About the role
The Maintenance Leading Hand is primarily responsible for coordinating and executing maintenance activities at Holcim's Onehunga site to ensure the highest levels of plant and equipment reliability.
A key secondary focus of the role is supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the site, contributing to the production, packaging, and distribution of cementitious products in both bulk and bagged formats.
This involves leading preventative and corrective maintenance, managing breakdown response, and conducting advanced fault finding.
You will be responsible for technical guidance to the operations team, works closely with the wider Engineering team to plan and execute maintenance schedules, and ensures that plant reliability and performance are maintained to the highest standards.
The role also involves assisting in the training and development of operators on asset care and actively contributing to site safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
Through technical expertise and hands-on leadership, the role is critical in driving efficiency, reducing downtime, and supporting Holcim's commitment to deliver safe and sustainable outcomes for customers.
AboutYou :
The Maintenance Leading Hand is expected to champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on plant reliability and maintenance efficiency.
Relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience in manufacturing, engineering, or industrial operations.
3+ years' operational experience within manufacturing, logistics, or heavy industry (cement or materials handling experience advantageous).
Strong understanding of plant operations, maintenance practices, and production processes.
Proven ability to lead and support operational teams, providing guidance, training, and coordination of daily activities.
Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to respond effectively to operational challenges.
Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with contractors.
Experience in logistics or supply chain environments preferred, including product dispatch and stock control.
Intermediate computer literacy, including Word, Excel, and SAP (or similar operational systems).
Flexibility to work shifts and travel occasionally to meet operational or training requirements.
