About the role

We are looking for Clinical Psychologists to work with youth aged between 13 to 17, to provide psychological assessments to the youth Court, and make recommendations for intervention for young people in CYFS's care and in the community.

The successful candidate will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess and diagnose people experiencing a range of issues including coexisting mental health and addiction issues.

You will be required to develop sound psychological formulations based on thorough assessments.

About our team

The regional arm of Te Korowai-Whariki includes the Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service which operates at the interface between Mental Health Services and the Justice System and works within the following settings - prisons, courts, community, and inpatient.

The Service offers assessment and rehabilitation services to defendants charges with criminal offences and offenders who have psychiatric illness.

About you

The ideal candidate(s) will have a sound understanding of mental health and addiction in youth and the impact of these issues on clients, their whanau and the community.

The work also includes some consultancy to other services and support for functioning and development of their teams and the organisation as a whole.

This is an important and rewarding role and a sound knowledge of psychopathology and treatment intervention with young people is required.

Good supervision will be provided both on an individual basis and as part of the multidisciplinary team review meetings.
