About the role
CAFS is seeking a registered mental healthprofessional (Registered nurse, Social worker, Occupational therapist) to joinour Infant, child, adolescent and family specialty Team. The intake &assessment clinician role is an integral member of the team, responsible for managingand triaging incoming referrals to ICAFS and completing initial assessments. The role would suit a clinician who enjoysautonomous practice while being closely connected to a team. Your skill setwill enable you to provide high quality triaging & assessment, accurate andtimely processing of referrals, triaging directly, referring to outsideagencies and maintaining workflow amongst the team.
About theTeam / Service Location
ICAFS is a community-based team that providespecialist assessment and treatment for 0 - 18 year olds and their families / whanau.We offer a range of therapeutic approaches as well as having two specialisttreatment teams, family therapy (with a screening team) and DialecticalBehaviour Therapy (DBT). We have a large team of passionate clinicians,including social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, andpsychotherapists that you would be working closely alongside. We haveclinicians with a range of experience and are known to provide excellentsupport to trainees, interns and new graduates who are frequently workingwithin our service.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to work independently, they willbe confident in reviewing referral content, completing triage assessments andproviding tangible outcomes. You will enjoy independent clinical work, whilebeing adept at collaborating with the wider team / services. The person best suitedfor this role will also have excellent clinical knowledge in mental health,working with children, families and understanding how to assess and treatcomplex needs. They will be confidentand effective communicators and have strong organisational skills.Skills
Minimum 3 years' experience in mental health, child and adolescent focused is a benefit.
Ability to provide high quality triaging in a fast paced environment
Experience in completing mental health assessments and providing therapeutic interventions
Experience in risk identification and management
Strong ability to make independent safe clinical decisions
Developmental knowledge and screening / assessment experience
Understanding of working with trauma, neurodiversity, challenging family systems
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external providers
Understanding of co-existing diagnosis relevant to children
Hold New Zealand registration and / or current practicing certificate
Have the ability to work autonomously and also as an integral part of a dedicated, innovative and friendly multi-disciplinary team
The ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships within the team, service, the DHB, the wider mental health services, and community agencies is integral to this role.
Previous experience using DHB clinical systems
knowledge of the CAPA system would be an advantage
Knowledge of local primary providers would be an advantage
