  • 12-month fixed term, full time

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders.

We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations - from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.

Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.

About the Role

You will be responsible for the successful delivery of Health NZ's inputs to a cross-agency workstream to lift the capability and safety of the care system workforce. This workstream arose from the Government's response to the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in State and Faith-based care.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide project management support for the Abuse in Care Budget 25 Initiative relating to the capability and safety of the care system workforce. The Abuse in Care Budget 25 workforce initiative focuses on ensuring the care workforce has the right capabilities to prevent and respond to abuse and neglect; checking the suitability of the care workforce adequately; and reporting and ensuring visibility of abuse and neglect that occurs in care settings.

The role involves managing the Health NZ input into this workstream, and project managing the implementation of any changes required to Health NZ's practices. The Project Manager ensures the achievement of project objectives and milestones, managing risk and quality control throughout the project's life cycle, to ensure a smooth transition to business as usual, enabling the realisation of benefits.

About you

You're experienced in leading and implementing change within complex environments, bringing a strong process management approach that ensures consistency, quality, and efficiency. With relevant tertiary or health and / or management qualifications, you combine technical expertise with practical leadership. You're highly proficient across the MS Office suite, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel, and confident managing projects across a variety of types and scales.

Your excellent communication and presentation skills enable you to build strong, transparent relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You're adept at managing internal relationships across Government agencies, as well as working collaboratively with internal teams within Health NZ. With your ability to engage effectively with diverse groups and services, you're seen as a trusted and capable partner who gets things done.
