Associate Charge Nurse Manager - Acute and Intensive Care Inpatient Mental Health UnitWakari HospitalFixed-term, full-time role until June 2026Salary band - $116,040 - $127,674 p.a pro-rata and KiwiSaverAbout the roleWe are inviting applications from enthusiastic registered nurses for a fixed-term senior nurse position.

This exciting opportunity offers a dynamic environment for you to lead the team with focus on patient centred care, embracing least restrictive practices, all while working alongside a supportive and collaborative team dedicated to high quality care.Ward 9B is located at Wakari hospital.

The team takes pride in the collegiality and ensuring staff well being is a top priority.The Associate Charge Nurse Manager will predominantly work after hours and weekends to provide leadership to the team.

There could be flexibility in these hours and planned cover for weekends potentially every six to eight weeks in discussion with the senior nursing team currently in 9B.

Some hours could overlap with the current Associate Charge Nurse Manager.The Associate Charge Nurse Manager will : assist and work collaboratively with the senior nursing leadership team in overall leadership within 9bwork collaboratively with other services for ensuring best possible care for tangata whaiora.This role : provides clinical leadershipmonitors and mitigates riskactively engages in quality initiativesmanages the day-to-day functioning of the unit.The Associate Charge Nurse manages patient flows in and out of the unit in collaboration with afterhours co-ordinators or CNMs / ACNMs of other areas to ensure delivery of safe patient focused care.About the Team / Service / LocationHealth New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Southern has the largest geographical coverage of all the New Zealand regions, providing services to 350,000 people in diverse communities.

We believe that our dedicated and passionate staff are a significant driving force behind the achievement of these standards, and we need more like-minded people to help us continue providing for our community.About youYou will : be a Registered Nurse with strong clinical leadership skills and relevant mental health nursing experienceideally have at least three years acute mental health experiencehold a current NZ APC.have post graduate qualifications in mental health or are working towards these (highly desirable)have clinical expertise in working with tangata whiaora in a patient centred way upholding patient rights, inclusive of whanau input and working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary teamachieve the LEO (leading empowered organisation) certificate (highly recommended)have a proficient level nurse portfolio that is expected to be completed within six months of being appointedcomplete the Te Pou Mental Health Act online trainingshave excellent communication skills including conflict resolutionhave the ability to work collegially with staff both within the MHAID and externally to the organisation.Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
