Job description

About us

The Ministry of Social Development is a people-centred organisation.

We're in communities across the motu, working with partners to help New Zealanders be safe, strong and independent.

We provide social policy and advice to government and assistance, including income, employment and housing support to people of all ages, families, whanau and communities.

As a Te Tiriti o Waitangi partner we are committed to supporting and enabling Maori, whanau, hapu, Iwi and communities to realise their own potential and aspirations.

Our people are as diverse as the communities we serve.

We care about the wellbeing and success of our people and provide a supportive and inclusive working environment where people can thrive and be who they are.

Are you the one everyone relies on to bring order to chaos, always organising events, making plans, and ensuring everything runs smoothly?

Join our Organisational Development and Learning team as a Training Coordinator and play a key role in delivering high-quality training experiences that strengthen our organisation's capability and performance.

As the Training Coordinator, you are at the heart of the programmes that you support.

You are the go-to person for learners, facilitators, and stakeholders, the one they turn to for guidance, information, and support.

You will work closely with others to ensure that training events run smoothly.

This role is both administrative and people focussed, ensuring that logistics and bookings are sorted, systems are maintained, and learners are prepared and ready to roll.

We want someone who takes responsibility, shows initiative, and enjoys a dynamic, people-focused workplace.

This role requires balancing people and projects with professionalism, emotional intelligence, and respect for our Te Ao Maori values.

Coordinate logistics and provide support for in-person and online training events, including onsite troubleshooting.

Arrange transport, accommodation, venues, catering, and equipment for learners and facilitators.

Review and improve training materials, systems, and learning technologies to ensure they remain current and effective.

Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and the wider training community to promote learning engagement.

Develop and maintain reports on training completion and effectiveness to inform decision-making.

Excellent organisational and coordination skills — you can juggle multiple priorities with ease and adapt when needed.

An interest in learning and development, preferably with some experience supporting training events or initiatives.

Confidence using Microsoft 360, digital tools, and data in your work.

A willingness to use Te Reo Maori and uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi in your work.

A mature and customer-focused mindset.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with both people and technology, and who wants to make a tangible impact on how we grow and develop our people.

Salary | Utu-a-tau : $61,
