About the Role
Step into a pivotal position as a Registered Nurse within the Public Health Service. You'll bring your nursing expertise to protect and promote the health of our communities, supporting the response to communicable diseases through case management, outbreak control, and prevention. Support and participate in the management of communicable diseases within the Compliance and Health Protection team.
This role is whanau-centred and equity-driven, working in partnership with Maori and Pacific communities to uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi and champion Pae Ora. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, provide leadership in education, policy, and quality assurance, and mentor other health professionals. Your specialist knowledge will shape innovative, holistic care and strengthen health protection across Aotearoa.
About the Team / Service / Location
The Health Protection team is part of the National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora and works towards Pae Ora (healthy futures for all) by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga / wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
About you
You're an experienced Registered Nurse with expertise in the areas of public health, communicable diseases, contact tracing and vaccinations. With a strong commitment to equity, you'll bring both technical skill and cultural competence to the forefront of communicable disease prevention and response. You'll have some knowledge and experience with infection prevention and control, and a working knowledge of a health consumer's journey through the health system.
