Support the Te Arawa Partnerships team at Rotorua Lakes Council, contributing to bicultural engagement and community-focused initiatives.Your RoleKey responsibilities include : Supporting the Te Arawa Partnerships team in building strong relationships between Rotorua Lakes Council and Te Arawa as mana whenua.Assisting in recognising and protecting Te Arawa's cultural, environmental, and economic interests, particularly in lake and land management.Providing support for cultural advice and direction to ensure Te Arawa's wairua, tikanga, and kawa are reflected in Council planning and decision-making.Aiding in meaningful engagement with iwi and hapu on key initiatives and strategies.Supporting the Te Amorangi Unit in leading kaupapa such as Reo Maori and tikanga learning, noho marae, and pohiri.Assisting with the coordination of events and celebrations, including Matariki and Te Wiki o te Reo Maori.Contributing to embedding bicultural values across Council operations and ensuring Te Arawa's voice shapes collective decision-making.About YouThe ideal candidate will possess the following : Currently undertaking tertiary study in Law, Policy, or Environmental Planning.High energy and a passion for making a positive impact in the community.Interest in bicultural engagement and cultural competency development.Compensation & BenefitsPaid summer work placement from November
