  • Defence Information Security delivers a trusted information security and cyber security system (INFOSEC) that helps to protect the NZDF from threats within the information environment, both physical and digital.As a Senior INFOSEC Advisor, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and guiding the New Zealand Defence Force's (NZDF) approach to information security.

Sitting within the INFOSEC Advisory team, this role focuses on proactive engagement with stakeholders across the organisation to provide expert advice, develop policy, and support strategic security initiatives.You'll work closely with project teams, operational units, and senior leadership to ensure INFOSEC principles are embedded across NZDF's platforms, capabilities, and business processes.

This is a highly consultative role, requiring strong relationship management skills and the ability to translate complex security concepts into practical, actionable guidance.Our INFOSEC Advisory Team is currently expanding.

We are looking for Senior INFOSEC Advisors to join us in providing critical support to the organisation.You will be based in Defence House in the Wellington CBD.

However, the role will also take you out to our camps and bases across the country on a regular basis.This role will have the option of working 1-2 days from home per week, with flexibility around your start and finish times and we are open to part-time / job-sharing options

  • A typical day will see you working across the NZDF as a key advisor in supporting Defence-wide security initiatives, influencing strategic INFOSEC outcomes, and bringing maturity and awareness to existing and emerging INFOSEC threats that can impact NZDF capabilities, platforms and supply chains.Key competencies this role will need knowledge of includes :
  • Information security.
  • International INFOSEC best practice.
  • Stakeholder engagement and influence.
  • The ability to present complex issues in clear and understandable language to help shape strategic outcomes.You will work across classified and unclassified environments and systems to ensure NZDF has a sustained and global operational deployment capability.
  • This means applying your INFOSEC experience to complex threat environments in which the NZ Defence Force operates.

    The outcomes for this role will allow us to understand and communicate the risks to our systems, platforms and the flow on effect on our people and outputs.

  • you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.

  • have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.If you do not meet the minimum criteria, unfortunately, your application will not be accepted.
