You'll use your technical knowledge and operational experience to plan, manage, and implement a key field monitoring programme.
You'll be responsible for ensuring the programme runs smoothly, safely, and effectively, helping to improve Auckland's biodiversity.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and undertake fieldwork operations for our Seabird Monitoring and Research Programme.Oversee all logistics for a variety of monitoring sites, including remote locations and pest-free islands.Secure all necessary permits and approvals for fieldwork operationsConduct hands-on monitoring tasks, including handling, banding, and collecting biological samples from seabirds.Ensure all biosecurity and health and safety protocols are followed rigorously.Process and validate raw data collected in the field and manage associated databases.Contribute to data analysis, interpretation, and reportingAbout YouWe're looking for a highly skilled and pragmatic ecologist with a true passion for seabirds.
You're a problem-solver with attention to detail who can think on their feet and thrives in challenging field conditions.
With a practical approach to delivering results, you'll have an understanding about the realities and logistics necessary for this kind of work.To Be Eligible For This Role, You Should HaveA Bachelor's degree in ecology, environmental science, or a related field, or commensurate work experience.Practical experience working with and handling seabirds for research purposes.A Department of Conservation Bird Banding Permit L2+ is required.A strong level of fitness and the ability to work in all terrains and weather conditions, including walking with a backpack for extended periods.Experience managing fieldwork expeditions to remote areasExcellent organisational and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working with a diverse range of people, including iwi and landowners.A full and clean driver's license.This is a safety-sensitive role, and a pre-employment drug and alcohol test is required.This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position that will require some overnight stays on remote islands.At Randstad, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all.
