    About the Role

    We have the opportunity available to join our team as a Public Health Nurse – Whole of Life Vaccinator.

    This role is a fixed-term position with a primary focus on childhood immunisation.

    The Fixed-Term period is 12-months from date of commencement in the role and will require you to work across 40 hours per week including a weekend day.

    It's important to know that this role requires trust as you are expected to work independently across the region under the guidance and support of both Clinical Nurse Managers.

    In this role you will support the Te Manawa Taki regional immunisation plan.

    Immunisation is promoted as a primary strategy for the prevention of communicable disease.

    You will work collaboratively with AIR administration and other team members, deliver immunisation activity and ensure that vaccines are administered in accordance with local policy and procedures including the maintenance of cold chain.

    About the Team / Service / Location

    The public health nursing team is part of the National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, and work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures for all) by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga / wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.

    We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

    About you

    You understand the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and are skilled in applying its principles effectively in your role.

    You're able to facilitate informed consent supported with immunisation expertise.

    You're able to provide evidence-based education to whanau, education centres, community providers and all stakeholders to promote vaccination.

    You build and maintain positive relationships at all levels and model an agile approach, you learn quickly, adapt fast.

    You can utilise advanced nursing knowledge and skills through reflective practice, critical thinking and professional judgement to provide competent care and advice while working to top of scope.

    • Current registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand as Registered Nurse and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate
    • Current Authorised Vaccinator
    • Full, New Zealand drivers' licence
    • Demonstrated competence in application of Maori health models to Nursing practice with child and whanau health related experience
    • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment
    • Proven experience and competence using Patient Management Systems
    • Working for Health New Zealand
