OverviewUniversity of Otago, ChristchurchOtakou Whakaihu Waka, OtautahiThe Administrator supports students and staff in the Department of Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Medicine at the University of Otago, Christchurch.
You will join a collaborative team within the Divisional Services and Administration Team and become a trusted point of contact for students, staff and visitors, with a strong customer service focus.ResponsibilitiesProvide a wide range of administrative support including meeting support, diary management, correspondence and document management, and confidential records management.Coordinate undergraduate and / or postgraduate timetables, examinations and student results.Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate clinical experiences for students.Provide pastoral care support to students.Use University systems to update databases, extract data, and prepare reports and other relevant information.Process transactions including purchase card reconciliation, reimbursements, purchasing and invoicing.Collaborate with team members across University campuses.Qualifications and skillsExperience in a busy and / or complex administration environment.Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.Calm, adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced environment.Strong problem-solving skills and a positive, proactive approach.Commitment to delivering exceptional assistance to staff, students and stakeholders.Ability to work in a culturally safe and respectful manner, with understanding of Te Ao Maori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and Pasifika values.Willingness to learn and strive for personal and professional development.About our teamThe Divisional Services and Administration Team at the Christchurch campus comprises over 40 professionals delivering high-quality service and administrative support.

Initially 30 hours per week (0.8 FTE), increasing to 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE) from 2 April 2026.Salary range : Level 4 $63,508 to $68,185.
Top of Range $73,640.
