About the Role
An exciting and challenging opportunity is available for an experienced social worker at Hawkes Bay Hospital, offering the chance to further develop and expand your assessment and intervention skills.
This role involves working across medical, surgical, rehabilitation, and children's hub wards, delivering safe, effective, and comprehensive social work services to patients, clients (tangata whaiora), and their whanau.
The position requires advanced clinical knowledge and the ability to manage complex cases, while also supporting clinical leadership.
Additionally, the role includes responsibilities for mentoring and coaching colleagues, supporting workforce development, and contributing to ongoing service improvement across the inpatient setting.
About the Team / Service / Location
You will be part of a diverse and supportive team working in partnership with patients, whanau, and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide high quality, culturally safe, patient-centred therapy for our community.
You will be part of the wider social work team, across the inpatient ward service.
You will have access to regular in-service training, special interest working groups, and learning opportunities to develop your clinical skills.
Our Social Work Professional Lead supports your growth and promotes the social work service throughout our hospital.

About you
Has a Bachelor of Social Work, or equivalent, with at least 5 years experience.Experience in managing diverse and social complexitiesExperience in mentorship, coaching, workforce developmentIs New Zealand registered with current annual practising certificate (APC)
