We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.About the RoleWe have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Central regional team as a Social Workerin a permanent, part-time 0.5FTE position.

This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively within the team and community partners to deliver high-quality child / adolescent and their whanau services.The primary purpose of the role is to provide high quality social work services to eligible children, young people and their whanau who are at increased risk of developing ill health due to poor housing.

This role will work within the Child Health Team and will provide a healthy housing assessment and intervention programme to eligible pregnant women, children and their whanau.You will provide advocacy and support to children and their whanau to access appropriate health and social services.

You will develop a wide knowledge of services, establishing relationships with the networks of health and social service providers involved with children and young people.

Support the delivery of government priorities and service plans.You may be required to work within other areas of the hospital due to operational demands and you will be required to travel to our other locations within our district where our team are located.

You build and maintain positive relationships at all levels and model an agile approach, you learn quickly, adapt fast.

You have excellent time management skills and can plan and implement changes, set priorities and monitor performance.Tertiary qualification in Social WorkCurrent registration with New Zealand Social Worker Registration Board and hold Annual Practising CertificateProven competence and ability in social work practiceKnowledge and understanding of social determinants of health and the impact of housing on the health and wellbeing of children & whanauKnowledge and understanding of Child Protection, Family ViolencePrevious experience working in the health sector or school environmentPrevious experience and established relationships with social services involved with providing housing interventionsAbility to work within a team and autonomously with excellent organisation skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsFull, clean New Zealand drivers licenceWith the support of Health NZ, you will proactively take care of your own health and safety, to ensure a safe and supportive work environmentWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
