- About the Role
- We are looking for enthusiastic Registered Nurses to join usin Ophthalmology Outpatients on a fixed term contract.The Eye Clinic is a very busy and demanding service that isstaffed by a dedicated team of Nurses, Orthoptists, Optometrists andTechnicians who work closely with our highly skilled and specialisedOphthalmologists to meet the eye health needs of the people of Canterbury.As a nurse in the eye clinic, you'll be responsible for undertaking ophthalmicassessment on a wide range of patients, with varying ophthalmic conditions,both acute and chronic.
You will help manage acutely unwell patients thatpresent from the community and the ward.
You will perform a variety ofdifferent scans and technical assessments on patients and assist nurses anddoctors with sterile procedures and assessments.
You will be working alongsidea house officer to undertake preadmission assessments on patients requiringsurgery and provide the patient with education about the surgery andpost-operative needs.We offer a great team environment and are supportive ofprofessional development.
About the ServiceChristchurch Outpatients works across four floors of ourpurpose-built facility.We provide nursing support and care for up to thirtydifferent Specialities.
About you1+ years experience in OphthalmologyExcellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships with a strong patient focus.Ability to work under pressureExcellent time management and attention to detailWork collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focusedRegistered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)Working at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te WhatuOra is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of NewZealand.We embrace a workforce that is diverse and inclusive so that we arebetter positioned to understand and service our community
