About the Role

We’re looking for someone with solid hands-on experience in the electrical industry who’s ready to take the next step - or maybe you've already made the jump from tools to tech and want more leadership responsibility.

This Senior Protection Engineer role is ideal for a seasoned professional with strong practical know-how and a passion for keeping power systems safe, compliant, and reliable.

You’ll lead protection design work, support critical infrastructure projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with field and design teams to bring protection systems to life.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead the design and review of secondary systems (protection and control) for HV and MV networks
• Conduct fault and protection coordination studies
• Develop protection settings and support testing and commissioning
• Ensure compliance with NZ standards and regulatory requirements
• Work closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams to deliver quality solutions
• Mentor and guide junior engineers - sharing your practical and technical knowledge
• Stay current with evolving standards, safety codes, and protection technologies
