About the team
Our Application Services team, in our award-winning ICT division (), helps ensure that electricity is delivered to all New Zealanders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by maintaining and evolving complex critical IT systems.
The business domain we work within ensures there are always new and interesting challenges to tackle and that the work we do matters - electricity is essential to our economy, our health system and the wellbeing of our citizens.
As a team we have been changing at a rapid pace, using new technologies to engineer modern web / mobile applications, intelligent AI / ML embedded automation to streamline workflows and functions, adopting open-source software and DevOps methodologies to accelerate product delivery.

About the Opportunity
As a key member of the collaborative wider Application Services Development team you'll be fully involved in developing, enhancing and operating mission-critical IT systems for Transpower that are a key part of running the NZ electricity grid and electricity market in real time.
With a keen interest in learning the market system domain, you will actively contribute to the upcoming pipeline of market system projects.
You'll work on a variety of compelling projects focused on Market System development and integrations.
The work will be a mixture of new software delivery, major / minor enhancements of existing systems, lifecycle upgrades of technology stack associated with applications, integration of SaaS / commercial software.
About you
As a highly experienced Software Engineer you'll find this role truly stimulating!
You'll be required to think broadly to understand how your work contributes to the wider systems and strategic direction of Transpower, leveraging your product development background and experience working across software development and operations.
Most importantly, you're passionate about software delivery and quality and have a desire to learn and share your knowledge with others.
