We are seeking a Quarry Operator to join us at Blackwell Quarry based on Great Barrier Island, Auckland, New Zealand.

Overview

The ideal candidate will live on Great Barrier Island or be willing to relocate permanently, embracing the island lifestyle and close-knit community.

No quarry experience?

No problem — on-site training will be provided.

Bring skills in operating loaders, excavators, and Class 4 trucks.

Responsibilities

Operate quarry plant and equipment to load, transport, and stockpile materials

Carry out routine checks, maintenance and cleaning of machinery and equipment

Assist with site preparation, drilling, blasting and crushing activities as required

Monitor material quality and provide feedback to management

Record production data and maintain accurate logs (training will be provided)

Communicate clearly and respectfully with team members, contractors and site visitors

Maintain a strong focus on health and safety to ensure work is conducted safely and in line with Fulton Hogan safety values

What we are looking for

Hold a NZ Class 4 drivers license with truck driving experience is ideal

Must hold a WTR Endorsement with experience operating Loaders, Excavator and Class 4 Trucks

Previous experience operating heavy plant in a quarry, construction, or mining environment is preferred

Physically fit and able to undertake manual and outdoor work in varying weather

Able to work mainly Monday to Friday, with additional hours and weekends when required

Blackwell Quarry is located on Great Barrier Island (Aotea), Auckland, New Zealand.

It provides aggregate and construction materials for island infrastructure, and operates with environmental standards and community expectations in mind, under oversight by Auckland Council and the local Great Barrier Local Board.
