Join us for a 12-month placement where you'll develop your clinical skills and make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals with complex needs.
Mō te tūnga | About the role
Our RIDSAS services are contracted by the Ministry of Health to provide rehabilitation services to people with high and complex needs, who have had contact with the justice system. Our approach includes translating therapeutic processes into practice and seeking out rehabilitation opportunities while managing any risks associated with rehabilitation.
Over the course of a 12-month fixed term contract you will gain exposure to working in the disability sector with a wide range of clients from different backgrounds, ethnicities and diagnosed syndromes. You will be providing high quality clinical support to people throughout their rehabilitation journey.
This will include :
- Assessing clients (under clinical supervision / managerial discretion) to identify the client's risks, needs and goals.
- Developing and implementing focused pieces of work to address specific behaviours / needs as directed.
- Monitoring and evaluating these interventions to ensure they are effectively meeting clients' goals and promoting their well-being.
- Mentorship and clinical supervision to support ongoing development
- Assistance with meeting requirements for psychology internship

- Fully funded Annual Practice Certificate (APC)
- Eligible for Registration (Intern) in a relevant scope of practice with the New Zealand Psychology Board. Candidates with a completed Masters Degree in Psychology may also be considered.
- An interest in working in the Health and Disability sector. Previous experience working in Health and Disability would be a bonus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to your audience
- Cultural competence and the ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tirirti o Waitangi
- Ability to work in an environment with diverse individuals, being open-minded and non-judgmental in your approach
- Have a full NZ drivers' licence
- your relevant academic and practical experience
- your level of completed study and proposed pathway to registration
