Responsibilities
Regulate the Residential Tenancies Act by promoting compliance and investigating non-compliance.
Design and recommend courses of action to ensure compliance with New Zealand tenancy laws.
Ensure quality and consistency of investigation and practices in line with the Ministry's policy framework.
Work with a wide range of people, requiring professionalism, communication skills and tenacity.
Collaborate with iwi, hapu, non-profit and government sector agencies to build stakeholder partnerships.
Apply risk assessment methodology to plan operations and enforce compliance.
Make enforcement decisions and utilise a range of enforcement tools to resolve identified breaches.
Qualifications
Legal right to live and work in New Zealand and a full New Zealand Class one driver's licence.
Experience and knowledge of regulatory and compliance environments.
Sound compliance skills including gathering, researching, analysing and evaluating information.
Experience in planning and undertaking investigation and enforcement processes, including report writing.
Knowledge and understanding of government and constitutional environment.
Investigative skills including gathering, researching, analysing and evaluating information and working knowledge of prosecution processes.
Experience in applying tactical communication skills in confrontational situations and the ability to work with a range of people across different cultures and backgrounds.
Experience in making enforcement decisions and utilising a range of enforcement tools to resolve identified breaches.
Good knowledge of the residential rental market in New Zealand.
