Overview

Cater Plus is proud to run the in-house kitchen at Southland Boys High School Boarding House, based in Invercargill.

To support our small, experienced team, we are looking for an experienced Cook to work Monday to Friday across the morning shift.

This role is educational, meaning you will work 40 weeks per year and be able to enjoy school breaks off giving you quality time to spend with family or refresh.

Responsibilities

Prepare, cook, and serve wholesome food

Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation

Adapt menus to cater for varied dietary requirements

Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff

Advise kitchen staff on cooking procedures and techniques

Demonstrate understanding of, and ability to implement New Zealand Food Control and safety regulations

Operate at a level that can take responsibility when required

Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard-free environment

Make sandwiches, cheese rolls, put away orders and supplies, stock fridges, use the POS system, and support the Canteen supervisor

Take charge of cleaning and dish duties to keep the kitchen clean and hazard-free

Qualifications / Experience

Previous cooking experience in a busy kitchen

Ability to work within school hours and 40 weeks per year

Experience with food safety regulations and standards
