Cook is respponsible for providing quality dishes in a restaurant or food stall to meet customers' expectation. The person will be engaged with all areas of cooking, including but not limited to, food preparation, cooking dishes, cleaning kitchen equipment and tools in working with Chefs and other kitchen staff.
Cook's Job Description
- Check the freshness and quality of food and ingredients;
- Monitor and maintain the appropriate temperature of of cooking equipment to be ready for use;
- Weigh, measure, mix, and prepare ingredients following a daily preparation plan;
- Cook, season and present dishes;
- Portion and garnish dishes;
- Ensure that the quality, presentation and portion of dishes meet the set standards;
- Ensure all foods and ingredients are stored in an appropriate environment;
- Monitor and maintain the appropriate temperature of refrigerators and freezers to keep freshness and quality of ingredients and foods;
- Adjust prescribed recipes to meet customers' special dietary requirements;
- Change and adjust seasoning on customers' requests;
- Control and minimise wastages;
- Order food supplies in the absence of Chefs and senior kitchen staffs;
- May be required to give ideas for new menus;
- Assist other kitchen staffs in operation and help other team members when needed;
- May be required to train new kitchen staffs
- Set up, clean up and organise work stations;
- Adhere to health and safety- quality requirements and waste minimisation;
- Learn all relevant health and safety standards;
- Report and eliminate any health or safety related hazards in the kitchen area or dining area;
Cook's Required Skills
At least 3 years of work experience in commercial kitchens or equivalent qualification;Sufficient knowledge in Sushi and Japanese food and beverage culture;Relevant work experience in New Zealand is an asset;Good command of English to carry out above duties ;Please send your CV with cover letter first.
