We're looking for a seasoned finance leader to join MBIE as a Principal Finance Business Partner.
This is a pivotal role at the heart of our Finance Business Partnering team, where you'll provide strategic financial leadership, expert advice, and data-driven insights to support high-quality decision-making across the Ministry.
Responsibilities
Lead and influence strategic financial planning and performance across a large, complex organisation.
Provide expert financial advice to senior leaders, including Deputy Secretaries and their leadership teams.
Mentor and guide Finance Business Partners, building capability and fostering a high-performance culture.
Deliver high-quality financial analysis, reporting, and insights to support MBIE's strategic goals.
Act as a key liaison between the business and the wider Finance & Performance group, ensuring alignment and collaboration.
This is a senior leadership role where your ability to influence without formal authority, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and drive change will be critical to your success.
Skills and Experience Required
Significant experience in senior, business-facing finance roles (public or private sector).
Strong strategic financial management and commercial acumen.
Proven ability to lead and influence across complex environments.
CAANZ Chartered Accountant qualification (or equivalent).
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
A passion for continuous improvement and building financial capability.
Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
