Overview
Haere mai, Kia ora, Hello!
Hi!
My name is Ngairini.
I\'m an experienced Guidance Counsellor (Kaitohutohu arahi).
I support children, young people, adults, elders, couples, families and groups in schools on issues affecting the youth, for awareness, counselling & strategies to assist with these, to work towards a more fulfilled life using modalities I utilise.
Approach and space
I work with my assistance / service dog Stanley who provides emotional comfort for children and all ages.
He is friendly and safe with people.
He can be patted during in-person sessions; if needed, I can place him in another room, put him on a lead, or we can conduct online via Google Meet.
Sessions are generally one hour, negotiable to 90 minutes or two hours if needed.
The space is comfortable, private & safe with confidentiality and informed consent.
I am mindful of ethical obligations and will follow them to the letter.
Online therapy
I use Google Meet for online therapy.
Sessions are typically one hour (negotiable).
After a brief introduction, we discuss the presenting problem, goals in therapy and life, and I offer tools / interventions.
I will send the invite once time is agreed, and confirm the day before or on the day.
There is a cancellation fee if you cancel on the day or no-show.
We can book ahead or go session by session.
Same options apply for face-to-face or phone sessions.
Qualifications and registrations
I possess a Diploma in Counselling and a Masters in Counselling and the Arts (with some Art Therapy coursework).
I have a Graduate Diploma of Teaching and a Bachelor of Visual Art, and a Certificate IV in the Diploma of Interactive Digital Technology.
I have twenty-three years as a Counsellor and Teacher in Australia and New Zealand; I\'ve been a Mentor for youth at risk and a Youth Worker.
I\'m a member of NZEI Te Riu Roa, a full member of the QCT, a practicing level 2 member of ACA, a full member of NZ Teachers Council and a practicing member of NZAC.
