District Licensing Committee - Chairs and Members
Auckland Council is seeking candidates for Chair and Member positions on the Auckland District Licensing Committee for the next term, 1 July
The District Licensing Committee (DLC) is responsible for determining all alcohol licences and managers' certificates in Auckland including new and renewal applications.
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate some, or all, of the following :
a working knowledge of hearings and how New Zealand legislation works
knowledge of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act
highly developed listening and questioning skills
understanding of alcohol-related harm and how it affects Auckland's communities
recognise and respect council's commitments to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and an understanding of Te Ao Maori
expertise in verbal and written communication, and facilitating groups
understanding of licensing or regulatory processes
leadership and active interest in your community
Your application will clearly demonstrate how your ability to make decisions on alcohol matters and experience of hearing processes will benefit council's DLC.

The DLC role is part-time and candidates need to be available for flexible working hours.
Work will be on an 'as required' basis at the remuneration rate set by the Minister of Justice for a term that expires 30 June
Successful candidates will be contracted to Auckland Council and not employees of council.

Auckland Council is unable to appoint candidates if they either directly, or by virtue of their relationship with another person, have such an involvement or appearance of involvement with the alcohol industry that they could not perform their duties without actual or the appearance of bias.
Preference will be given to candidates that reside within the Auckland region.
This is a position of trust and candidates must therefore be prepared to undergo a criminal record check prior to commencing employment.
Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory criminal record check.
