Bring strategic thinking and scientific rigour to project direction and problem solving. Thrive in collaborative environments and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences. Overview
Lead Research Scientist - Generative AI at Canva, Wellington, New Zealand. This role is remote-friendly within Australia or New Zealand. Join Canva to coach a team of world-class scientists, advance our foundational model roadmap, and translate research breakthroughs into product experiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of high-performing research scientists.
- Set strategic research direction aligned with Canva’s AI and product goals.
- Guide technical direction across foundational model development, experimentation, and evaluation.
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure research translates into product impact.
- Represent Canva in the global AI community through publications, talks, or open-source contributions.
