You'll set priorities aligned with ACC's strategic goals, mentor and grow your team's capabilities, and help foster a culture of learning and innovation.You'll also collaborate closely with stakeholders across ACC to understand business needs and identify opportunities where data science can add value, whether it's designing better services, measuring performance, or optimising operations.For a detailed position description click hereAbout youHold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field-or bring equivalent work experience.Proven experience leading data science or analytics teams, with a strong track record of delivering strategic programmes that align with organisational priorities.Skilled in statistical analysis, artificial intelligence, predictive modelling, and research design.Proficient in tools and technologies such as Python or R, SQL, machine learning frameworks, and data visualisation platforms.Confident guiding the full data science lifecycle, from initial scoping and discovery through to deployment.Comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders, including business units, IT teams, and technical experts, to embed data science across the organisation.Strong communicator, able to translate complex insights into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.Knowledgeable about data privacy regulations and ethical standards, with experience implementing data governance and ensuring compliance.A strong understanding of the insurance sector, with insights into human behaviour and how it influences customer interactions and decision-making.In depth knowledge of claims processes and how data science can support better service design, performance measurement, and operational efficiency.Working at ACCAt ACC, we embrace the rich tapestry of Aotearoa New Zealand's cultures and are dedicated to providing equitable opportunities.
