OverviewKaitaia College is seeking an inspiring and experienced Head of learning area – science to lead our well resourced and collaborative science faculty.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader who is passionate about teaching, curriculum development, and fostering student success from Y9 through to Y13.At Kaitaia College, general science is taught in Y9, 10 and 11, with students given the opportunity to specialise in biology, chemistry, physics or earth & space science from Y11 through to Y13.
As HoLA, you will provide leadership across all of these areas, guiding the strategic direction of the department, mentoring staff, and ensuring high-quality teaching and learning throughout the faculty.We are looking for a leader who can inspire both teachers and students.
The successful candidate will be collaborative, committed to academic excellence, and skilled at building strong relationships with students, staff and the wider community.
You will be expected to model best practice in the classroom while also contributing to the wider life of the school through our extra-curricular programme.This role offers the opportunity to lead a dedicated and innovative team within a modern and well-equipped learning environment.
A school house may also be available for the beginning of the 2026 year, providing additional support for those relocating.
