Primary Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to lead the successful execution of jobs and service delivery within the waste and industrial divisions, ensuring all customer requirements are met or exceeded with a focus on quality, safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
The role is critical in delivering operational excellence through the effective coordination and utilisation of team members and plant resources, ensuring jobs are completed to scope, on time, and within budget.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
Degree qualified in Engineering, Operations, Business, Management field or relevant industry experience
Full, clean, and current driver's licence
Computer skills to an intermediate level
Has applied knowledge on project and operations management with positive results
Strong knowledge of Safety, Quality and Environmental legislation
Preferred but Not Essential
Current First Aid Certificate
Manual Handling Training Certificate
Experience in D365
Class 4 Driver's Licence
Exposure and knowledge of comprehensive safety management systems including Hazard Analysis
Duties
Direct, develop and execute strategic objectives relevant to each specific operation.
Lead, manage and support all waste and industrial operations to meet service, safety and compliance targets.
Lead your team, Specialist Services and / or Support functions to complete work to scope, plans and budgets.
Oversee the activities of team members, contractors, sub-contractors, etc. to deliver outcomes as per agreements.
Support your manager with company compliance and relevant legislation (e.g., resource management requirements, consents, compliance, certifications).
Monitor, analyse and adjust (if necessary) pathways and prioritise around issues and conflicts.
Ensure records, reports, etc. are filed in accordance with legislative requirements and policy.
Support your manager with financial and management audit, compliance activities and reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Contribute to maintaining awareness of issues and trends affecting the industry.
Manage and optimise Profit and Loss (P&L) statements and ensure the financial health and sustainability of the business.
Forecast revenue and expenses to ensure business targets are met.
Evaluate and manage overhead costs, labour costs, plant utilisation and other expenditures to improve profitability.
Design and implement effective sales strategies that align with the division's objectives and broader business goals.
Manage waste operations, including the safe handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and regulated materials, while ensuring compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations.
Ensure all activities comply with health, safety and environmental standards, including the operation and management of resource consents associated with the waste facility.
Stay updated on chemical handling practices, safety protocols and regulatory changes.
Negotiate, schedule and facilitate movements of team members and resources across projects.
Assist in the recruitment, training and / or development of team members to compliance and operational needs.
Develop new and strengthen existing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, clients, community partners and regulatory bodies, to support operational excellence and business growth.
Oversee the proper use and regular maintenance of all equipment.
