Trainee / Medical Laboratory Technician - Specimen ServicesThe provider of pathology services to the people of South Canterbury, Awanui Labs Timaru, is seeking a Trainee or Medical Laboratory Technician for their Specimen Services department.

This is a permanent, full-time position of 80 hours per fortnight, requiring participation in evening shifts and weekend rosters.Key responsibilities include : Barcoding, receipting, and preparing specimens coming into the laboratory;Performing data entry of patient and test details;Answering telephones.About you : You will work collaboratively as part of the team, work well under pressure, and have an eye for detail and problem-solving ability.

You will need the ability to work in a methodical manner, adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines, and have a customer-focused approach with effective interpersonal skills.Preferred qualifications : A sound knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory operations, including safety, operation of equipment, and hands-on practical experience;Diploma in Applied Science or a Bachelor of Science;Registration with the Medical Science Council and an Annual Practising Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician in Specimen Services.What's in it for you : You will be joining a friendly, high-performing, and forward-thinking team environment with excellent opportunities to enhance your skills.
