Registered Nurse Emergency Department New Plymouth Hospital, Permanent Part-time

We have a fixed term part-time position available as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, working across Monday to Sunday.

You will join a highly skilled and supportive team who manage the unique variety of emergency situations presenting at our provincial hospital. This is an exciting environment in which to develop excellence in emergency nursing assessment and planning skills, with the support of the emergency department staff.

Our nursing team consists of nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, an emergency department educator, and a clinical coach. In addition to the nursing support, we work closely alongside a team of senior and junior medical staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency nursing care and patient assessment in a fast-paced ED setting.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including doctors, nurse practitioners, nurse specialists, and educators.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and upskilling in emergency care with opportunities to specialise in trauma, resuscitation, or triage.
• Contribute to a supportive, well‑structured ED environment and patient flow planning.

Situated in the sunny west coast of the North Island, Taranaki Base Hospital is the largest hospital in the Taranaki region, located in New Plymouth. It serves as the primary healthcare facility for the region, providing a wide range of medical and surgical services. The hospital is managed by Health New Zealand - Taranaki and includes emergency, maternity, mental health, oncology, and specialist outpatient services. The facility has undergone upgrades to enhance infrastructure and patient care, and serves as a teaching hospital offering training opportunities for medical students and healthcare trainees.
