- Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
- This role can be based in either Auckland or Wellington.We spoke with our Head of Treasury Oversight and she let us know the following about the tūranga (roles) :
- Set, review, and monitor risk appetite settings and limits for Capital, Funding & Liquidity, IRRBB and other key Balance Sheet prudential metrics
- Manage and report on limit utilisation and breaches.
- Develop and implement prudential policy documents and frameworks
- Oversee and report on prudential compliance effectiveness.
- Maintain regulatory reporting controls and provide compliance evidence
- Review Treasury strategy for policy and risk compliance; write risk opinions for proposals
- Update risk committees (BNZ ALCCO, ERCC / BRCC) and supply risk assessments as needed
- Contribute risk input to bank-wide or Group projects.
- Communicate policy updates to Treasury and stakeholders
- Offer technical and policy guidance when required
- Knowledge of APRA standards (APS 210, APS117, APS 110) and the equivalent for RBNZ banking prudential requirements
- Effective stakeholder engagement and communication; ability to advise on Policy updates and discuss technical aspects with Treasury
- Report writing and presentation skills
- Strong data and numerical analysis
- Understanding on how to use and interpret assumptions in financial models
- Demonstrates the ability to build trust and cultivate productive relationships with Treasury colleagues, serving as a reliable advisor by offering informed risk assessments and guidance on compliance matters
- Collaborates effectively with the wider Finance, Risk and Group stakeholders
- Supportive of other members of the Treasury Oversight team, helping and fostering cross-skilling to provide staff coverage if required
- Works independently, takes ownership of assigned tasks and consistently meeting deadlines
- Approaches problem-solving proactively, communicates challenges promptly, and seeks input from relevant subject matter experts as necessary
